Be the Cause

Seventeen Travelers will visit the HIV/AIDS rampant country of South Africa to engage in a “Service Vacation”.

Back at home…

Well, I’ve been home for a few hours now, and it is sort of nice to be back in familiar surroundings. I checked out my apartment and its still dusty AND the cat is still alive. I switched on the news (the first time I watched TV since I left) and the breaking story was about a lady getting shot at a nursing home, so the news is the same. I checked my email for work and I’m still employed and it looks like everything there is pretty much the same. I went and picked up my mail and dropped off my film and everything seems exactly the same, and thats not a bad thing. However, something has changed… ME. I havent been home long enough to say exactly what or how, but I know that I’m not the same person I was before this trip.

It feels like home

This morning we had the honor of visiting a hospice. Many of the patients are terminally ill, which left many of us wondering how we could be of service for such little time. Amazingly, we really felt appreciated. The patients told us that we lifted their spirits – even after our rendition of “rudolph the red nose reindeer.”

It’s hard for us to leave South Africa. I think I will miss this place more than any other place I’ve visited.

Love to everyone – see you soon.
